Catherine L. Bard, CPA
Cathy worked in the tax department of Deloitte & Touche for fifteen years, the last five years as a tax partner in the Dallas office. In 1992 she joined Ken Nicholas and Steve Flanagan’s Dallas firm. She provides tax and consulting services to a variety of clients from individuals and small closely held entities to publicly traded companies.
Cathy is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants. She graduated with honors from The University of Texas at Austin with a BA (1975) and an MPA in Taxation (1977). Cathy and her husband Howard have one daughter, Kelly.
Stephen J. Flanagan, CPA
Steve began his public accounting career with and worked in the tax department of Deloitte & Touche for fourteen years. During his last four years with this firm, Steve was a tax partner, served as a member on the firm’s Energy Resources Group and was in charge of recruiting tax professionals for the Dallas office. In 1987 he joined Ken Nicholas to establish a Dallas firm. Steve provides tax and consulting services to a wide range of clients and has broad-based experience in the energy, manufacturing, construction, professional services, real estate and nonprofit industries.
Steve is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants. Steve graduated with high honors from Southern Methodist University where he earned his BBA in 1973 and was President of the School of Business in his senior year. He and his wife Sandi are blessed with two daughters whose names are Stephanie and Christina. Outside the business environment, Steve enjoys all activities that involve Sandi, Stephanie and Christina.
Samuel T. Montgomery III, CPA
Sam began his public accounting career with KPMG in 1970. He was promoted to partner in 1980 and specialized in providing audit and consulting services to private companies of the Dallas office. In 1987 he joined a local firm in Dallas where he continued his specialization of serving small and middle market businesses and nonprofit organizations. Sam has substantial experience in several industries, including construction, retail, nonprofit, investment companies, manufacturing, distribution, oil and gas, real estate and personal services, including medical professionals. He focuses on the audit and accounting areas, and provides some tax and consulting services.
Sam is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Dallas Chapter of the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants. He is a member of the Park Cities Rotary Club and on the Board of Directors of the Frontiers of Flight Museum. Sam is a former officer and director of Park Cities Rotary Club and the North Dallas Chamber of Commerce, and a former vestry member of his church. He is an honors graduate of Texas Tech University, where he earned a BBA (1967) and MS (1969). He and his wife Marge have a son and daughter, Samuel and Leigh.
Kelly M. Morgan, CPA
In 1994, Kelly started her public accounting career with Nicholas & Montgomery LLP, working in the tax and accounting areas. Kelly focused on the tax area beginning in 1996, progressed rapidly, and was admitted to the partnership in 2000, at the time making her one of the youngest tax partners in Dallas public practice. While Kelly specializes in taxation, she also provides accounting and consulting services to her clients. She enjoys serving a variety of entities, including individuals, trusts, estates, privately owned businesses and non profit organizations.
Kelly is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants, the Dallas Chapter of the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Dallas Estate Planning Council. In 1994, Kelly graduated with a BBA from Texas A&M University where she was in the honors program. She received her MBA in 1999 from The University of Texas at Dallas with concentrations in taxation and finance. She and her husband enjoy spending time at the lake with their two labrador retrievers.
